 The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2025 January session has garnered significant attention from engineering aspirants across India. Registration and Attendance

According to reports, approximately 13.8 lakh (1.38 million) students registered for the JEE Main 2025 January session, marking an increase from the 12.21 lakh registrations in the previous year.

While the exact number of candidates who appeared for the January session is yet to be officially released by the National Testing Agency (NTA), historically, a high percentage of registered candidates take the exam. For instance, in the January 2024 session, out of 12.21 lakh registered candidates, 11.70 lakh appeared for the exam.

Exam Analysis

The JEE Main 2025 January session was conducted on January 22, 23, 24, 28, and 29, 2025, for Paper 1 (B.E./B.Tech), and on January 30, 2025, for Paper 2 (B.Arch/B.Planning).

January 22, 2025:

  • Shift 1: The overall difficulty level was rated as easy to moderate. Physics was considered moderate, Chemistry was easy, and Mathematics was found to be lengthy and difficult by many students

  • Shift 2: Similar to Shift 1, the paper was deemed easy to moderate. Physics and Chemistry were manageable, while Mathematics posed more challenges due to its length and complexity.

January 23, 2025:

  • Shift 1: The paper maintained a moderate difficulty level. Physics had a mix of theoretical and numerical questions, Chemistry was straightforward with NCERT-based questions, and Mathematics was again lengthy but solvable with proper time management.

  • Shift 2: Students found this shift to be slightly easier compared to the morning session. Physics and Chemistry were rated as easy to moderate, while Mathematics remained lengthy but less tricky.

January 24, 2025:

  • Shift 1: The exam was considered moderate. Physics and Chemistry sections were balanced, with direct questions, whereas Mathematics continued to be time-consuming.

  • Shift 2: This shift was moderately challenging. Physics and Chemistry were accessible, but Mathematics required more time due to its length.

Overall, the consensus indicates that while Physics and Chemistry were manageable, Mathematics consistently posed a greater challenge across all shifts.

Result Announcement

The National Testing Agency (NTA) is responsible for releasing the JEE Main results. Historically, results are announced within a few weeks after the conclusion of the exam. Given that the January session concluded on January 30, 2025, candidates can anticipate the results to be declared by mid-February 2025. It's advisable for students to regularly check the official JEE Main website (jeemain.nta.nic.in) for updates.
